Hiking in Berchtesgaden Part 1: Königssee

After Norway in 2012 and Iceland in 2014, this year’s hiking trip with M took me to the Berchtesgaden National Park in the German alps.

The first day we took a boat trip on the Königssee.

The first stop was at  St. Bartholomew’s Church.

From there we started hiking up past St. John and Paul Chapel heading to the Eiskapelle (“ice chapel”).

Unfortunately, at this time of year, the Eiskapelle looked nothing like it did in pictures we saw beforehand, so we weren’t even sure we were at the right spot.

Nonetheless, the view from up there was amazing.

Next stop: Saletalm and the Obersee lake.
